Patriotism is an evil

Patriotism is the evil of the nation-state era. Why one has to glorify, romanticize and die for a fiction. The people, the land, the lived culture, the language, the traditions are real. The state, the country are constructs, ideas, fictions formed by the elite to rip the downtrodden of their right to their land, their language and their culture. If by patriotism you mean an affiliation to a land, a sense of community to a people, a feeling of belonging to a place then you don't need to go on raving about the glory or eternity of a construct or a product of pure imagination which doesn't have material existence. Your land is eternal, your people are there from time immemorial, your culture is a lived experience. Your state, your country is just a floating idea. Go 200 years back and you will find that the imaginary idea that you are so fervent about today was nowhere to be found. And in contrast your people, your land, your culture, your language was there, albeit in a bit different shape and form. What makes you think that 200 years on your state and your country will be as it is today?
Your relation to your state should be transnational and not emotional. Your state hasn't done you a favor by giving you an ID card. It has taken your land and your resources and your independent identity and has imposed a superficial identity on you. Your relation with state is based on a social contract and that contract is constitution and laws of your land. You cannot associate values to a fiction. If you are living in a country that is tolerant and diverse, it means the people living in the land engulfed by a political construct are tolerant and diverse. Don't fall victim to the irrational folly that the current form of the world is end of history and that the world you live in today will exist like this eternally. And if your state and country trembles at mention of our unique identity and celebration of my history, my culture and my language, it means that your state is predatory and the elites running the state have decided to erase my unique identity so that they can rule me easily and exploit me for their own benefit without a fight.
